Description: This course is for the novice or beginner acrylic painter. Drawing experience a plus, but not required. You will learn basic color theory concepts and painting techniques. Come with an open mind and you will be surprised by what you can paint.

    1 each: red, yellow, blue
  • reds: Alizarin Crimson; Cadmium Red
  • yellows: Lemon Yellow; Cadmium Yellow
  • blues: Cerulean; Cobalt Blue; Ultramarine Blue
Paints: Mixers
  • Titanium White: Suggest largest you can get.
  • black: Mars or Ivory Black
Brushes
    Assortment of rounds, flats, and brights:
  • Start with whatever you have.
  • #6 or #8 Round
  • #8, #10, or #12 Flat or Bright
Other
    Miscellaneous:
  • Painting Palette: Wood, plastic, or disposable paper palette pad.
  • Painting Base: Canvas, gessoed paper, canvas board, other prepared base (wood, masonite, etc.)
  • Small containers: Used to hold water for thinning paint and cleaning brushes. Good to have a couple.
  • Rags / Paper towels: For removing excess water, paint, and general cleanup.

Pencils and eraserFor drawing or sketching subject for painting.
Palette KnivesPaint without a brush. Various styles are available.
Mixing / blending KnivesUseful on large quantities of paint. Various styles are available.
Apron / smock / old clothesAcrylic paint is very hard to remove from clothing. Best to cover up or wear stainable clothes.
Master's Brush cleanerGreat to clean your brushes after painting and helps to make your brushes last longer.
Master's hand soapGreat for hands and other cleanup.
